Job Title: Residential Substance Abuse Counselor.
Department: Dr. Sushma D. Taylor Recovery Center (SDTRC).
Location: 790 Sonoma Ave, Santa Rosa, CA.
Reports to: Program Manager.
Classification: Non-exempt.
Compensation: $28.00 for registered counselors and $33.00 for certified counselors
Additional $2.00 per hour differential for Bilingual English/Spanish speaking counselors

Schedule Options:
  • Saturday and Sunday, 7:00am to 3:30pm.

Job Summary: Center Point DAAC is seeking a passionate and experienced Substance Abuse Supervisor Counselor to join our team at our new residential facility, Dr. Sushma D. Taylor Recovery Center (SDTRC). As a Residential Supervisor Substance Abuse Counselor, you will provide counseling and education to chemically dependent individuals in a residential setting, promoting recovery and well-being.

Essential Duties:
Direct Treatment:
  • Provide individual and group supervision to counseling staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.
  • Develop and implement training programs for counseling staff.
  • Oversee client intake and assessment processes.
  • Review and approve treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Provide clinical guidance and consultation to counseling staff.
  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions as needed.
  • Facilitate education groups and workshops.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure comprehensive care.

Communications/Teamwork/Training & Support:
  • Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Communicate with external agencies and referral sources.
  • Participate in case consultation and training opportunities.

Problem Solving:
  • Oversee conflict resolution with clients.
  • Respond to crisis situations and provide support.

Time & Accountability:
  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
  • Manage time effectively.
  • Ensure current certification and licensure.

Requirements:
  • Valid registration or certification in Substance Abuse Counseling from an accredited institution: CCAPP, CAADE, CADTP.
  • 2+ years of experience in residential treatment or related fields.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse treatment and counseling techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Valid California Driver's License.

Physical/Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to maintain a clear, understandable speaking voice.
  • Accurate and clear vision and hearing.
  • Ability to work on weekends and evening shifts.
  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods.
  • Sufficient digital manipulation skills to utilize a computer keyboard.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and function in a busy environment.
